Dr. Rick McInturf has served as Superintendent of Schools in Ozark since 2014.  He holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from East Tennessee State University and a Master's degree in the Teaching of Reading, also from East Tennessee State.  His undergraduate degree is in Elementary Education from Milligan College in Johnson City, Tennessee.  Following a thirty-one year career, mainly in public school administration in Tennessee, Dr. McInturf retired and moved to Pelham, Alabama to teach in the Educational Leadership Department at The University of Montevallo.  After one year at the University, he was employed as the Federal Programs Director for Ozark City Schools.  Prior to being named Superintendent, he also served as the Associate Superintendent for seven years.  As the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. McInturf's focus has been on providing rigorous instruction that will prepare students for college, work, or adulthood.  Extensive work has been completed on upgrading facilities.  A new high school was opened in 2013 and the system is currently engaged in a 4.1 million dollar renovation program designed to upgrade the instructional environment in all of the other schools.  All Ozark Schools are accredited by AdvancEd, and Carroll High School was the first school in the State of Alabama to earn accreditation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) instruction.  Dr. McInturf is active in numerous community and civic organizations and serves on the board of the Dale County United Way.
