COURSE TITLE: SPANISH I                             

LENGTH:  ONE TERM (18 weeks)               CREDIT: 1.0

PREREQUISITE(S): For the student with a minimum of a 75 average in English.

FINANCIAL OBLIGATION: $15.00 (approximate workbook cost)

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Tenth grade or higher only.

PLACEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS: Two credits in a foreign language are required to earn an Alabama High School Diploma with Advanced Endorsement.  When successfully                          completed, this course meets one of these credits.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course provides an introduction to the Spanish language and culture.  If develops elementary skills in listening, comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing.  The language is presented within the context of the contemporary Spanish-speaking world and its culture.

 

*Spanish I will also be offered through the Carroll High School Distance Learning lab through the S.E.A.L. program, Spanish I will be transmitted from the Troy State campus and taught by a certified Spanish teacher.  Students will receive one high school carnegie unit for this class, not college credit.  These classes will be monitored and supervised by the technology facilitator at CHS.


 

COURSE TITLE: SPANISH II                           

LENGTH:  ONE TERM (18 weeks)               CREDIT: 1.0

PREREQUISITE(S): Completion of Spanish I. Strongly recommend at least a 75 average in Spanish I

FINANCIAL OBLIGATION: $15.00 (approximate workbook cost)

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Eleventh grade or higher only

PLACEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS: Two credits in a foreign language are required to earn an Alabama High School Diploma With Advanced Endorsement, and

when fully completed, this course meets one of these credits.  For the student who completed Spanish I with at least a “C” average.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course further develops the “four skills” through expanded vocabulary, advanced grammatical structures, composition, and the study of Spanish civilization and culture.
