CHS Course Description - Physical Education

The State Board of Education requires one credit of Physical Training to meet graduation requirements.  The Ozark City Board of Education has set this requirement for the ninth grade year.  The following courses will meet the required one credit of physical training.  These courses may also be taken for elective credits.

                               

Physical Education                                                                        JROTC I -Fall or Spring

Physical Education - Strength and Conditioning I                             JROTC - Rifle Team

Physical Education - Strength and Conditioning II                            JROTC - Drill Team

Physical Education – Varsity Sports                                             Band - Marching (Fall)

 

COURSE TITLE: PHYSICAL EDUCATION – Boys - Fall

LENGTH:  ONE TERM (18 weeks)                CREDIT:  1.0

PREREQUISITE(S):  This course is not available for any student who has “failed” any physical education course after passing the required one unit. 

FINANCIAL OBLIGATION: A small fee is required when using facilities off campus (e.g.: bowling, racquetball.)

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Appropriate attire as designated by the instructor.

PLACEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS: None

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course provides students with an opportunity to develop proficiency in lifetime sports and activities.  Some of the activities will include archery, badminton, bowling, golf, pickle ball, ping pong, rhythms, and tennis.


COURSE TITLE: PHYSICAL EDUCATION – Boys – Spring

LENGTH:  ONE TERM (18 weeks)                CREDIT:  1.0

PREREQUISITE(S):    Athletic Director’s approval; For ninth grade football players and male varsity athletes other than football.

FINANCIAL OBLIGATION: None

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: None

PLACEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS: This course, along with Strength and Conditioning II, is designed to be taken for both terms within the same academic year.  However, the option is available to take only one (1) term, providing all approvals are met prior to enrollment.  For those students who plan to play varsity sports.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course provides concentration on developing strength through weight-training with additional emphasis on speed development and conditioning specific to the requirements in the game of football.


COURSE TITLE: PHYSICAL EDUCATION - STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING II –Fall/Spring

LENGTH: ONE TERM (18 weeks)                CREDIT:  1.0

PREREQUISITE(S):   Athletic Director’s approval; For varsity football players.
