Thompkins Early Childhood Center is a professional development school in

 partnership with Troy University Dothan.  This program allows

 prospective teachers to observe and actively participate in the teaching

 process.  Students from TSU Dothan Campus visit the school at various

times during the year in conjunction with their college courses.

Thompkins became an Alabama Reading Initiative site in 2006.

Teachers participated in numerous training sessions related to the five big ideas

in reading.
