At Thompkins Early Childhood Center, all areas of study are taught within
the realm of a single theme. This approach is called integrated thematic
curriculum. Thematic curriculum provides children with opportunities for
social interaction and fosters autonomy as students are allowed to make
decisions. Cooperative learning is promoted as students work together on
projects. The integrated thematic curriculum is a very productive
means of teaching young children to think for themselves.
