Charlotte A. Smith, Principal

Being principal of Thompkins Early Childhood Center is a dream come true

for me. When I began my teaching career here over 20 years ago, I knew

this school was more than just a building. It was a special and unique place

where children were loved and valued. The entire Thompkins staff strives

each day to give the children entrusted to us the best educational

foundation possible. Our vision is for our students to grow up to be

productive, lifelong learners. I have always believed Thompkins Early

Childhood Center is a beam of light in the Ozark community and my goal is

for its light to continue to shine. Thompkins is definitely the best place for a

kindergartner to be and I am proud to be the leader of this

wonderful facility.

I received my bachelor's and master's degrees in early

childhood from Troy University Troy. I received my AA degree and

administration certification from Troy University Dothan. In 2002, I

achieved National Board Certification in the area of early childhood.

I have twice been named Thompkins Teacher of the Year, Ozark City Schools Elementary Teacher of the Year,

and District II Teacher of the Year.
