Federal Programs Information

  • Purpose: The purpose of the various federal program grants and allocations is to provide additional resources with which to meet the needs of the students and the Local Board of Education. The federal funds are used in conjunction with and in addition to the various local and state funds. The federal funds supplement the state and local funds to provide services to meet the educational needs of the students.

Federal Law and Regulations: The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is a US law passed in December 2015 that governs K-12 public education policy. This replaced its predecessor, the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). Like NCLB, ESSA is a reauthorization of the 1965 Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), which established the federal government’s expanded role in public education.
