Welcome to the Ozark City Schools website. The Ozark City School System is in Dale County, Alabama, and serves approximately 2100 students in grades pre-K through 12. We have four schools, an Accelerated Learning Center, and a Career Center. Lisenby Primary School houses grades pre-K through grade 2. The school is a developmentally appropriate early childhood environment that is designed to give students the very best in early grades education. Mixon Intermediate School serves grades 3-5. The Mixon curriculum is rigorous and relevant to the developmental needs of intermediate grade children. D. A. Smith Middle School serves grades 6-8. In addition to a quality academic program, the middle school offers a complete program of athletics as well as numerous academic competitive events. Carroll High School offers a full program of Career Academies. Every student at the high school is aligned with at least one chosen Career Academy. Many students earn career credentials as a part of the Career Academy program. The Career Center is a part of the high school and offers more specialized career development opportunities. Masonry, cosmetology, drafting, 3D production, and health sciences are some of the additional programs offered at the Career Center. The Accelerated Learning Center is designed to serve students that have difficulty performing in the regular program. Students may attend the center for credit recovery, credit advancement, or be required to attend the center for a discipline infraction.
The Ozark City School System is fully accredited by AdvancEd. Carroll High School was the first high school in the State of Alabama to become STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) certified by AdvancEd. Carroll High School was also a 2016 Banner School Award winner.
The students and programs of the Ozark City School System have numerous accomplishments, and we are proud of each one. There is a strong community commitment to the school system with numerous volunteers providing services to the system on a daily basis. Fort Rucker, the Home of Army Aviation, borders the school system. We welcome students from Fort Rucker and appreciate the impact that the army base has on our community.
We appreciate your interest in our school system. Please visit the website of each school for additional information.
