Lisenby Primary School, formerly Lisenby Elementary School, was built in 1966 and is located at 860 Faust Avenue in Ozark, Alabama. Lisenby Primary School was created due to the closing of the first all kindergarten school in the state of Alabama (Thompkins Early Childhood Center) at the end of the 2014-15 school year. The site was designated as an early childhood school for students from Pre-K through second grade. Lisenby Primary School houses approximately 500 students per year in grades Pre-K through second grade. There are two pre-school classes, twenty-four regular classrooms in grades K-2, one self-contained special education unit, and three additional special education teachers who service our students. Lisenby has two speech pathologists, one music teacher, one media specialist, one STEAM teacher, one reading coach, one math coach, two physical education teachers, four intervention teachers, a school counselor, two custodians, a lunchroom staff, and several teacher assistants. The school office consists of a principal, assistant principal, a secretary/bookkeeper, and an assistant to the secretary. Lisenby is fortunate to have a STEAM lab, a media center, and music classroom. Each classroom also contains Chromebooks/tablets for each student as well as an interactive panel.
At Lisenby, we view ourselves as eagles who are beginning the journey to life-long learning. We welcome you to visit our school to see all of the great things that are going on at our primary center!
