Mrs. Mandi Kyser

Hello, friends!

My name is Mandi Kyser and I serve as the school counselor at D.A. Smith Middle School for grades 6-8. I received my undergraduate degrees from Mississippi State University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Language Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Languages - French. I started my teaching career as a French teacher in Jackson, MS, near my hometown of Braxton, MS (Simpson County). I later moved to Dothan, AL after marrying my husband, where I then taught English and French. In 2020, I had my daughter (the same week the pandemic shut down the state - YIKES) and decided to pursue my passion - counseling. I completed my Master's in Professional School Counseling from the University of West Alabama and immediately began my new career in Ozark City Schools!

Some interests of mine include spending time with my family, animal rescue & training (I am a foster for Australian Shepherds Furever 501 c3), crafting (crochet, embroidery, and paper crafts), and experiencing new cultures and foods!

I absolutely love my job and I couldn't imagine myself doing anything else. Ozark City Schools and D.A. Smith Middle School have been a blessing in my life and have helped me develop into the school counselor that I am today! I can't wait to see how Ozark develops over time and I am proud to be part of this wonderful community.
