Degrees and Certifications:
mom, teacher, photographer, and designer
My passion for the arts can be traced as far back as I can remember. During my days as a student at Carroll high school, I was heavily involved in visual art and tennis. Proceeding graduation in 1997, I attended junior college on a tennis scholarship where I majored in Studio Art. After attending four different colleges and a change in my major from Studio Art to Design, Technology & Innovation with Photographic Studies, I finally finished my college career graduating from Troy University in 2005. For six years I worked as a graphic designer and photographer. In 2012 I became a seventh grade art teacher for DA Smith Middle School. Two years later I was moved to Carroll High School to teach Visual Art 1, 2, & 3, as well as, CTE Intro to Advertising Design, Digital Design, Graphic Illustration, and Studio & Portfolio. I am also the art club sponsor and tennis coach.
Ozark has always been home, although, I was fortunate enough to be able to experience living in Europe and visiting many different countries as a child. My upbringing had a huge impact on my life and how I view the world. My goal as a teacher is to show my students how to see the world in a different light. I want to engage students with the wonder of human perception using a wide range of skill building and create a classroom experience they can be inspired by throughout their life.
Outside of the classroom I enjoy spending time with my husband Evan, my daughter, Rune, my step son, Evan V., and my sweet baby boy, Nash. Art consumes my life even in my spare time. I also enjoy nature adventures, playing my acoustic guitar, and traveling.
