Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Nick McDonald serves as Director of Bands at Carroll High School in Ozark, Alabama, where he oversees the Carroll Symphonic Band, the Carroll Jazz Band, and the Pride of the Wiregrass Marching Band. Mr. McDonald holds a Bachelors and a Masters degree from Troy University. In 2017, he was selected as the Carroll High School Teacher of the Year. In addition to his teaching duties at Carroll, Mr. McDonald is as a member of the 151st Alabama Army National Guard Band, stationed in Montgomery, Alabama. He is a member of the Alabama Bandmasters Association, the Alabama Music Educators Association, the National Association for Music Education, and in 2017, he was inducted as a member of the American School Band Directors Association. Mr. McDonald is married to D.A. Smith Middle School band director Michelle McDonald, and they have 3 children. During Mr. McDonald’s tenure at Carroll, all 3 performing ensembles have consistently received superior ratings at all music festivals, competitions and assessments.
