Rachel Povlacs

Rachel Povlacs is a Dothan, AL, native and is married to Larry A. Povlacs.  They have two sons, Evan (13) and Patrick (11), and welcomed their daughter Anna to the family in July.  As a family they attend Dothan First. Rachel has a M.S. in History Education (2007) and B.S. in History Education (2003) both from Troy University Dothan.  Prior to becoming CHS’s Instructional Coach, she was in the classroom for 16 years - all at CHS where she taught APUSH and U.S. History courses. She also leads student trips to Europe through EF Tours every two years for CHS students.  Rachel was selected as Teacher of the Year during the 2018-2019 school year. In addition to sponsoring numerous clubs and organizations over the years, she has continued her professional learning as a Fund for Teachers Fellow (2013), an Alfred Lerner Fellow (2017), and has attended the JFR Advanced Seminar.  Outside of school she enjoys bike riding, yoga, listening to music, traveling and camping with her family, reading, cooking, and ancestry research.
